Eyelash extensions if applied properly by an experienced stylist, give you the look of mascara and the curl of a lash curler, without the need of using these tools again. After the initial 24 hours from their application, you may swim, wet them, use a sauna or hot tub and still look amazingly glamorous.
The major benefit of wearing semi-permanent eyelash extensions is to always look good while at the beach or at the pool, without the worries of running mascara. With the summer months, clients are more prone to head down to the beach or swim in their home pools and have questions on how to better care for their eyelash extensions. I have few tips you may want to follow to get more wear out of your extensions this summer.
When swimming in chlorinated pools and if you are a keen diver, always wear goggles if you can; make sure that the lens of your goggles fit comfortably without touching your eyelashes. If swimming without goggles, it is imperative that you do NOT rub your eyes, as most people do. It is best to wipe above your eyes and below your eyes, avoiding touching and/or pulling your extensions.
If you have wet your extensions with chlorinated water, remember at the end of the day to rinse your eyelash extensions with fresh water and tap them with a tissue and air dry them. Salted water is harmless to your extensions and will not cause any concerns to the adhesive. Please be mindful, that in the summer months, we sweat more and we are constantly applying sunscreen, which may affect the longevity of your extensions due to their greasiness. Nevertheless, I still suggest to keep applying sunscreen, but perhaps you might need to get a refill sooner rather than later.
I cannot strive enough the importance of hygiene for your eyes, with or without eyelash extensions. Eyelashes have the function to collect moisture dust and dirt; hence we always need to wash our eyes to avoid any kind of infection. The same applies when wearing eyelash extensions. Keeping your eyelash extensions cleaned is imperative and will prolong the longevity of your extensions and will help you maintain a fabulous fresh look.
Happy Swimming and Happy Lashes!
